Today I had the shopping experience to top all shopping experiences. Today… I experienced Macy’s.
I didn’t get time to shop here back in 2015 so I made it one of my to-do activities for this trip! Macy’s do Christmas. They do Christmas HARD.
We started the day by grabbing a quick Starbucks and then we made our way straight to the place of dreams.
The Christmas windows weren’t up yet but all of the inside was decked out like Santa’s Workshop. I LIVE FOR THIS.
9 Floors. 9 FLOORS. It is like Debenhams started a relationship with House of Fraser and they popped out quadruplets and together they created this EMPIRE.
Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic. But it was good, okay?!
Every single make-up brand you could ask for. THERE. Every single handbag designer. THERE. Even limited edition Disney bags that can’t be bought anywhere else. THERE.
You hungry? There are food places on almost every single floor. You want some chocolate covered strawberrys? Godiva has ya on floor 3.
Okay, I understand this sounds like i’m being paid to promote this shop but honestly, i’m not. (Trust me, I wish I was...) If I could live in Macy’s, I would.
Saying that… I actually only bought one thing. A Chubby contour stick from Clinique (which is a re-purchase btw, i’ll go into that in another post!)
After searching for what seemed like days, I buckled and asked one of the make up counter ladies where I could find the Christmas section. Floor 9. Floor 9 is where I would meet Santa.
Okay, so either Santa is really really short or I’m a giant. I think we both know the latter isn’t true.
If you get the chance to visit New York over Christmas i would most definitely put Macy’s on your to do list. I was like a kid in a sweet shop.
The final UFC event that I would be taking part in this week was the Weigh-Ins and that’s where we headed next. Again, at MSG but this time, no queuing!!!!! As we already had our ticketed seats.
I spent the majority of this trying to stream it Live on Facebook for Zach’s friends to see. It was such a good atmosphere, all of the tickets sold out and it made me feel even more gutted that I wasn’t going to the actual event on Saturday!
That’s it. No more UFC for me… which meant that I had shopping, sight seeing and lots and lotsa food to look forward to!
After a not so busy day, we were still SO exhausted. I can’t even explain to you how tiring this city is… so off we went for yet another nap. Waking up hungry and quite irritable, we decided to head off into Times Square for some food.
I read before we set off for this trip. DO NOT EAT IN TIMES SQUARE. It is a tourist trap. The amount of times I read this online is a joke… but yet we still did it. Because we were hungry and cranky and didn’t wanna walk far.
Our mistake.
The worst dining experience we’ve ever had. Ever. We paid $60 for ONE MEAL. No starters or dessert. One Meal with One Drink each.
AND THE MEALS WERE COLD. AND TOOK 50 MINUTES TO COME OUT. THEN ANOTHER 25 MINUTES ON TOP OF THAT TO GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN TO WARM UP.
If you take one piece of advice from any of these blog posts, please do not eat in Times Square. Spent the little extra time researching places or just head on the Subway and do a little exploring. It is not worth the horrendous prices and the bad service!!! (Not that i’m moaning, yno.)
As I headed to bed… I knew that tomorrow would be the start of great things. Tomorrow is the UFC event in the evening which means I get to SHOP DURING THE DAY.
SEPHORA, I’M COMING FOR YA!!!
Have you ever been to Macy’s? What did you think of it?
