My New Years Resolutions. Scrap that. Goals for 2017.
Every single year I give myself these ‘resolutions’ because I’m unhappy with things that have happened the year before. I never stick to them. Never.
I’m not gonna put myself under that pressure. But here are my Goals for 2017… for me to look back on, so that I can say to myself ‘I can do this.’
Be Healthier.
I know what you’re all thinking… yeah yeah we hear this from everybody every single new year.
I mean this. I need to change the way I eat, change the way I live and I need to see a change in myself. I am the most unhealthy I’ve ever been in my entire life, I don’t exercise at all… mainly because I have a car so what’s the point? I drink 0 water… only juice or fizzy drinks because I just hate water! (even though this was a goal of last year….)
I’ve put on a lot of weight and at only 5 foot tall… you can tell.
My BMI is no longer in the ‘healthy’ category and I think that’s the kick up the arse i really needed. This isn’t a want, it’s a must.
Read more books.
I want to take more time for myself.
I have this horrible bad habit where I’ll have free time, tons of it in fact, but I’ll just scroll social media or worse… stare at the screen in a daydream. I always feel so good if I finish a book because I feel like I’ve accomplished something… so why don’t I do it? Because I’m simply too lazy.
This year I want to read more books than I’ve ever read before, with the help of my Goodreads account.
Save more money.
Now, this is a bit different to last year. Last year I wanted to save money so that I was ready for everything the year had to offer me. Which was in fact, a quite quickly planned trip to NYC which meant that the saving had to be squeezed together in a matter of months. (Read about my trip here!)
This year… we’ve booked the holiday.
We are going to FLORIDA!!!
I have been counting down since 300 days and I am so so so excited. But this means I SERIOUSLY have to save. I don’t want to be counting the pennies in America. If I want it, I wanna be able to buy it without feeling guilty.
September 2017, you’re gonna be amazing!
Create a blog timetable.
When I got back from NYC I was so good with my blog posts, writing my NYC diary daily. Then, things got busy in life again and I struggled. It took me almost 2 months to fully finish the diary of my holiday that lasted only a week!
Even so, I loved writing every single post and reading every single thing that you guys had to say about it.
I love writing more than anything in the world, even writing this I’m sat here smiling to myself. This is what I wanna do.
So… I’m hoping that by creating a blog ‘timetable’ (Only posting on certain days at certain times and never missing a slot) it will mean that I’m much more pro-active with my blog… Let’s watch this space.
Be nicer to myself.
You’re human, Kirsty. You’re gonna make mistakes… you’re gonna get emotional and you’re gonna have good and bad days. It happens.
I want to stop being so hard on myself. Stop letting my anxieties take over. That person is NOT talking about… they’re NOT overthinking what you just said to them and laughing about you behind your back.
I want to learn to breathe and shake it off. That THING that you’re worrying about… it doesn’t need to be a 40 minute conversation with yourself in your head. Just breathe, shake if off and FORGET it. Move on.
I don’t want to let my anxiety rule 2017.
I know this was probably a lot deeper than the usual ‘2017 goals’ post that you read… but if you got to this point, thank you.
Thank you if you’ve read just this one post. Thank you if you’ve read every single one of my posts.
Each view on my blog makes my heart happy. I mean that with every inch of me… the fact that PEOPLE, actual PEOPLE read this blog and read my words is more than I could ever wish for.
You guys make me happy. Writing makes me happy and if it entertains just one person when they need it the most… i’ve done my job.
I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful New Year and I hope that you stick by me on my journey in 2017.
Great goals Kirsty. If you manage to start drinking water I bet you will see an incredible difference - I drink loads but sometimes forget when I'm not at work and massively impacts me in terms of energy and the way I generally feel. I also need to read more, but what I really mean is actually finish a book I start reading!
